The Frame wall light by Kristian Sofus Hansen & Tommy Hyldahl is conceived around the idea of framing light, transforming illumination into a layered architectural composition. Defined by its interplay of materials, the design contrasts the raw precision of perforated metal with the softened transparency of rounded glass, resulting in a visual language that is both structured and fluid. This tension between industrial sharpness and gentle diffusion establishes the collection’s distinctive identity, where light becomes an integral part of the form rather than a concealed function.
Hidden at its centre, an integrated LED source within a white acrylic tube ensures an even distribution of light, highlighting the intricate textures of the chrome-plated aluminium and adding a sense of three-dimensional depth to any vertical surface. Offering significant versatility for architectural projects, the Frame wall light is available in two distinct scales: the 100 cm Big version and the 50 cm Mini.
The larger iteration is particularly effective for adding rhythmic height to expansive living areas or framing a hallway with a continuous line of light. Conversely, the Mini provides a refined accent for bedside placement or intimate corridor illumination. Kristian Sofus Hansen & Tommy Hyldahl
Kristian Sofus Hansen and Tommy Hyldahl began their creative partnership in 2015, blending Japanese minimalism with Scandinavian design principles. Hansen, trained at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and the Kyoto Institute of Technology, brings a refined understanding of traditional design practices, complemented by innovative production techniques. Hyldahl, with extensive experience and a deep appreciation for Asian aesthetics, contributes a unique perspective that enhances their work’s sense of harmony and clarity. Together, they have created notable pieces that reflect a balance between clean lines, functional elegance, and timeless forms. Inspired by mid-century design and modernist icons, their collaborations result in furniture and lighting that resonate with both Eastern and Western aesthetics, merging simplicity with warmth in each piece.
