Introducing the Brutus Stool by 101 Copenhagen – a stellar fusion of Brutalist architectural aesthetics and the simplicity of traditional Japanese design. A part of the expansive Brutus collection, this stool epitomizes the defining characteristics of the mid-20th century's Brutalist movement.
The Brutus collection comprises a variety of pieces, including a dining chair, lounge chair, coffee table, and this beautifully crafted stool. Made using lightweight fiber concrete, the stool showcases a unique surface texture that not only adds to its visual appeal but also ensures easy mobility. The meticulous hand-painted finish introduces a touch of individuality, making each piece a one-of-a-kind.
Drawing inspiration from traditional Japanese wooden stools, the Brutus Stool features a delicately curved seat and signature cross legs. This design not only serves as an artistic representation of two worlds colliding but also ensures that the stool provides comfortable seating. The stool's subtle curvature is balanced with the robust architectural lines, capturing the essence of Brutalist design.
Kristian Sofus Hansen & Tommy Hyldahl, the masterminds behind this creation, have successfully amalgamated two diverse design philosophies into one cohesive piece. The Brutus Stool from 101 Copenhagen is not just a functional piece of furniture but a sculptural statement, embodying a perfect blend of art and utility.
