LZF Orbit Wall Light, THE THOUGHTFUL LIGHT

With its thoughtful air, the ovalesque LZF Orbit Wall Light will decorate any wall with quiet self-assurance. Created by Spanish designer Miguel Herranz, Orbit is an unfussy lamp whose shape is handmade by twisting a piece of wood veneer. Two designs are feasible, depending on the direction of torsion—that is how the wood veneer is twisted.

Light from the Orbit is diffused both upwards and downwards via its two apertures and an inner glow radiates outwards, accentuating the beauty of the timber veneer grain. In essence, just as the earth is in orbit around the sun, light is in orbit around the Orbit.

Miguel Herranz

Spanish designer Miguel Herranz approaches design with a unique methodology he calls ‘The Conceptual Nebula.’ This analytical yet free-form process enables him to develop conceptual tools that address real-world design challenges by focusing on three foundational elements of every project: culture, industry, and society. Among these tools is what Herranz calls ‘The Ordered Chaos,’ a method he uses to infuse his work with natural elegance, structural simplicity, and the layered complexity of organic forms. Herranz’s distinctive perspective shines through in his collaborations with LZF, where his designs for the Mikado and Orbit lamps reflect his curiosity-driven, conceptually rich approach. Each piece exhibits a harmonious balance of form and function, capturing the serene yet dynamic essence of nature. By blending formal richness with a clear constructive logic, Miguel Herranz continues to push boundaries in design, creating works that are as conceptually profound as they are visually compelling.
